General Information on Visa Requirement To Turkey

Canadian ordinary (personal) passport holders require a visa for Turkey. The visa can be obtained either from this Embassy or before entering Turkey if the purpose of the trip is pleasure, business or attending a meeting. (Holders of Canadian official passports can obtain their visa only from the Embassy.) Due to the high volume of applications for Turkish visas, the Consular Section is not in a position to provide a specific duration for visa processing. Therefore we strongly suggest that you apply for visas, well before the planned visit to Turkey.

1- Visa fee at the point of entry is US$60.00 or Euro 45 (cash). This visa allows the holder to stay in Turkey for a maximum period of 90 days and is valid for multiple entries during that period.

2- A visa can be obtained from the Embassy of Turkey in Ottawa at a cost of C$75.00 for a single entry or C$150.00 for multiple entries both valid for 90 days. Visas not used within 90 days from the date of issue will have to be renewed. The visa fee is applied per person, not per passport, and applies to children listed on parent's passport. The validity period of the passport should cover at least six months from the date of the issuance of the visa.

The following are required from Canadian citizens if they choose to obtain their visas from this Embassy, prior to their departure.

· Passport (original)
·Fee: C$75.00 (single entry) / C$150.00 (multiple entry) as a money order or certified
cheque payable to Turkish Embassy (personal cheques are not accepted / cash is accepted for applications in person).
· Self-addressed, stamped envelope or pre-paid return courier (not required for
applications in person)
·Filled-out application form

-If the planned stay exceeds 90 days or the individual intends to study, work or be engaged in any kind of gainful employment in Turkey, an appropriate visa must be obtained. An application for this purpose has to be made to this Embassy. The Embassy does not provide assistance in finding employment in Turkey.

Holders of Canadian official passports can obtain their visa only from the Embassy. A diplomatic note from the passport office is required for official travels. Canadian special passports are subject to visa fee if the intended trip is for pleasure.

-Holders of Canadian travel documents must obtain a visa from this Embassy prior to departure. Application should be made well in advance. The Embassy should be contacted for detailed information. Visa fees applied on Canadian passports are non-refundable.

-Holders of U.K. and U.S.A. passports will also require a visa to enter Turkey. They can obtain their visas on their arrival at the point of entry into Turkey by simply presenting their passport and paying a visa of US$20.00. A visa fee of C$65.00/86.00 for U.K. passport holders or C$25.00/81.00 for US passport holders will be charged if they choose to obtain their single/multiple entry visas from this Embassy.

-Nationals of all other countries must contact this Embassy for information on visa requirements well before they travel to Turkey.
