The Press Release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Republic of Turkey on the Demise of Kani Güngör, A Witness of Armenian Terror

 

 

 

We express our deep sorrow at the demise of Kani Güngör on January 30, 2008 who was left paralyzed after being shot in an attack by the Armenian terror organisation ASALA while he was serving as the Commercial Counsellor in the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa on April 8, 1982.

 

            We commemorate Mr. Kani Güngör, a precious fellow who represented our country with dignity. He was shot and paralyzed after the injuries he got in the terrorist attack. We extend our condolences to his bereaved family.

 

            The valuable memories of and sorrow for our 34 diplomats, their spouses, children and family members who lost their lives and of our diplomats and officers injured in heinous attacks in 19 countries between the years 1973 and 1994 will forever live on in Turkish nation’s heart.
